Oh hi! I'm Gina. I create aesthetic travel guides and itineraries for women who want to see the world (and look good doing it). Additionally, I also coach solo female travelers to feel confident exploring the world on their own. I plan the kind of trips where every stop feels like a main character moment—equal parts iconic, effortless, and very well-documented. Consider me your unofficial travel planner, hype girl, and “should we get another glass?” enabler.
Lessons in Travel Photography from a Solo Female Traveler
Hi Friends!
I don't know about you, but some of my favorite souvenirs from my travels have always been the photos I bring home with me. I love looking back at pictures of family trips from when I was little, girls trips in high school and college, and now, trips with my friends I have in my 30s.
When I first started blogging, people would always comment on my photos. In fact, one of the biggest questions I've gotten since I became a blogger is "who takes your photos on your trips?" And most of the time, the answer is...me!
I took this photo myself in Florence, Italy. I was in love with the symmetry of the decor, and the pops of color in the windows!
Let's back up a second - because it sure didn't start out this way! When I first became a blogger, I took my professional photographer friend to New York City with me to get a bunch of photos I can use for my website (if you're curious, check out our 20 Favorite NYC Instagram Spots here!).
Once I published my blog, people would comment on these photos all the time and tell me how much they loved them. I quickly realized that I needed to find a way to take semi-decent photos when I was out on my own to keep my site looking visually consistent.
So I practiced, and learned, and practiced some more...until taking my own photos became second nature. And now, I'm sharing 5 of my biggest tips with you here!
Oh, and PS - I take all my photos with my iPhone!

Even if you don't travel alone, you can still use these tips in any scenario where you're wanting to level up your photographs...from outdoor adventures to rooftop bars that pass the vibe check:
